Drug Formulation

2 blind-ground whip snakes (live, placed in oil), 50 large celestial dragons, 100 large centipedes, 1 liang 5 qian of whole scorpions, 4 liang of Angelica sinensis, 2 liang of pangolin scales, 2 liang of elephant’s-tooth lily, 2 liang of Sichuan aconite, 2 liang of wild aconite, 2 liang of notopterygium, 2 liang of angelica pubescens,4 liang of Strychnos nux-vomica, 2 liang of Forsythia, 4 liang of Rhubarb, 1 liang 5 qian of Ephedra, 4 liang of Human Hair, 2 liang of Bletilla, 5 qian of Agastache leaves, 4 liang of Honeysuckle, 2 liang of Cicada Shed Skin, 2 liang of Frankincense (oil removed), 3 liang of Myrrh (oil removed), 5 liang of Raw Rehmannia, 2 liang of Fresh Cinnabar Powder, 64 liang of Raw Green Onions, 8 liang of Fresh Ginger.

Processing

Separately, use 16 liang of tung oil, 8 liang of castor oil, 128 liang of sesame oil,64 liang of rapeseed oil. Place all the above herbs into the oil and simmer until the herbs are completely dried out. Let it rest off the heat for a short while, then strain out the residue. Use an iron strainer lined with silk cotton to filter the oil thoroughly, and boil it down until a drop of oil forms a bead when held up to the light. Add 52 liang of cinnabar, grind it into a fine powder, mix it into the oil, and boil it down again. Check the consistency to ensure it is just right, then remove from the heat and let it cool until slightly warm. Add 5 qian of finely ground Dangmenzi and 5 qian of finely ground borneol, stirring until well blended.
