3 liang of Astragalus, 3 liang of Aconite, 3 liang of Sichuan Pepper, 3 liang of Fangfeng, 3 liang of Achyranthes, 3 liang of Asarum,3 liang of Cinnamon Bark, 3 liang of Du Huo, 3 liang of Atractylodes, 3 liang of Ligusticum, 3 liang of Licorice, 2 liang of Qin Jiao, 2 liang of Aconite (the *Ji Yan* uses 3 liang of Dioscorea), 2 liang of Rhubarb, 2 liang of Pueraria Root, 2 liang of Dried Ginger, 2 liang of Cornus, and 2.5 liang of Angelica.

Processing

For young and middle-aged people, do not simmer the herbs; for frail elderly people, simmer them briefly. Place the herbs in a silk bag and steep them in 2 dou of clear wine—5 days in spring and summer, 7 days in autumn and winter.

Instructions for Use

Begin by taking 1 he before meals; if no effect is felt, increase the dose to 4–5 he, three times daily. Once the wine is consumed, soak the residue again in 2 dou of wine. If the remedy remains ineffective, sun-dry the residue, grind it into powder, and take one fenbi with wine; if no effect is felt, gradually increase the dose. This formula is highly effective in treating numbness and stiffness without causing vomiting or nausea; during mild fever, cold foods and drinks are recommended.
