Drug Formulation

5 qian of raw Rehmannia glutinosa, 2 qian of raw licorice, 1 qian 5 fen of ginseng (decocted separately), 3 qian of raw rhubarb, 1 qian of sodium silicate, 5 qian of Scrophularia root, 5 qian of Ophiopogon tuber (with core), 1 qian 5 fen of Angelica sinensis, 2 sea cucumbers (washed), and 6 spoons of ginger juice.

Instructions for Use

Boil 8 cups of water until reduced to 3 cups. First, take 1 cup, mix in 0.5 fen of ginseng juice and 2 spoons of ginger juice, and drink it all at once. If there are rumbling sounds in the abdomen or the passage of flatulence, this indicates the urge to defecate. If no bowel movement occurs within 1–2 hours, take another cup as before; if no bowel movement occurs within twenty-four ke, take a third cup. If a bowel movement occurs immediately after taking the first cup, discontinue further doses. Take one dose of Yiwei Decoction as appropriate; the remaining ginseng may be added.
