Drug Formulation

2 liang of realgar, 2 liang of magnetite, 2 liang of cinnabar, 2 liang of sulfur, 1 liang of ox bile (finely ground), and half a liang of musk (finely ground).

Processing

Finely grind the first four ingredients in a mortar, wash them with water, and store them in a clean container. When preparing the formula, on the 5th day of the 5th lunar month, harvest approximately one dan of tender green mugwort. Select the best parts, wash them thoroughly with water, pound them to a pulp in a wooden mortar, and strain the juice through a clean cloth to yield about 5 sheng.First, prepare a stove and place a silver pot over it. Simmer over low heat until it becomes a paste. Depending on the desired consistency, first add magnetite and stir until evenly mixed; next, add cinnabar and stir until evenly mixed; then add realgar and stir until evenly mixed.After a long time, remove the pot from the heat; immediately add sulfur and stir until uniform; next, add ox bile and stir until uniform; then add musk, stirring carefully to ensure the powder is evenly distributed. Once ready for pill-making, form into pills the size of mung beans.

Instructions for Use

Take 5 pills daily on an empty stomach with warm wine.

Note

Avoid sheep’s blood.
