Drug Formulation

4 liang of clean human hair from a healthy adult, 4 liang of clean pig bristles, 4 liang of clean sheep’s wool, 4 liang of clean chicken feathers, and 4 liang of clean goose feathers (all washed and sun-dried; remove the hard central quills from the chicken and goose feathers); 2 liang of lard (membranes removed, cleaned); 2 liang of tung oil; 20 liang of sesame oil; 2 liang of white Sichuan camphor; 1 qian of borneol; and 1 qian of musk.

Instructions for Use

First, combine the three types of oil with 5 liang of turtle shell and simmer for 20 minutes. Then add the feathers and scorch them until charred and dry. Remove from heat for a moment, strain through fine silk to remove impurities, and simmer again over low heat. Add the white Sichuan zhan, borneol, and musk, then mix with 6 liang of finely sifted yellow lead oxide to form a paste. Spread the paste on oiled paper and apply to the affected area.Sanling Dan may be added to the mixture. Once this oil is prepared, a small amount of zinc-enriched powder may also be mixed in, and the mixture applied using cotton or gauze according to Western medical practices.
