Drug Formulation
Dodder Seed (sort and rinse thoroughly; pound off the coarse husk; boil in ash-free wine until soft, until the threads separate; mash into a paste; form into thin cakes; sun-dry; grind into a fine powder) 4 liang, White Poria 3 liang,Cornus officinalis (steamed with wine; remove the pure flesh) 4 liang, Huai-style prepared Rehmannia (take 5 liang of raw Rehmannia, wash with wine, mix with 3 qian of ground Amomum villosum and half a jin of good wine, soak overnight; place in a porcelain container set inside a sandpot, and steam over water until black and thoroughly soft; then pound separately), Huai-style Chinese yam 3 liang,Goji berries (Ganzhou variety is best) 4 liang, Polygala (soaked in licorice decoction, pounded to remove the pith, then boiled in licorice decoction and sun-dried) 2 liang, Plantain seeds (cleaned, soaked in rice washing water, steamed, and sun-dried) 2 liang, Rubus fruit (stems removed, steamed with wine, and sun-dried) 4 liang,Ophiopogon tuber 3 liang (core removed), Schisandra berries 2 liang (those from Liaodong or the north are best), fish-blubber gelatin 4 liang (stir-fried with oyster shell powder until pearl-like, then oyster shells removed), tender deer antler 4 liang (thoroughly roasted over low heat with clarified butter), Angelica root (washed in wine, sun-dried) 3 liang,cypress seeds (shelled, white inner kernel only) 3 liang (pounded separately), ginseng 3 liang, Sichuan Achyranthes root (stir-fried with salt and wine) 3 liang, Shayuan tribulus 4 liang (lightly roasted and ground into powder for the formula; separately, take 2 liang to boil into a decoction, then mix with refined honey to form pills), Sichuan Eucommia bark (stir-fried with salt and wine) 3 liang.
