Drug Formulation

2 pig livers, 2 pig stomachs (thoroughly washed, fat membranes removed).Slice both ingredients and place them in a new sandstone basin; seal it tightly with thin yellow clay, making the outer layer as thick as a stove. Initially, add 1 dou of urine to the liver and tripe, then simmer over low heat, stirring with a willow wood spoon and covering it at night. Gradually add more urine—up to 2 dou—and then add the following herbs: 5 liang of peach kernels (remove the skin, tips, and double kernels; roast and grind),Asafoetida 2 liang (dissolved in vinegar, sand and stones removed; wrapped in flour and slow-roasted until the flour turns yellow and cooked; remove the flour, then grind together with the peach kernels and add to the mixture), peppermint juice 2 sheng, Artemisia annua tops (juiced) 2 sheng, fatty pork 20 pieces (extract the juice).Add the above five ingredients successively to the previous decoction and simmer, stirring frequently; add another 2 dou of urine, bringing the total to 5 dou or more. Continue simmering over low heat without interruption, adding ingredients gradually to prevent the mixture from drying out. When the mixture reaches the consistency of thin syrup, transfer it to an oil-proof container, seal it, and store it), softshell turtle shell (remove the frills, roast with vinegar) 2 liang, Beijing-grown Acorus tatarinowii (roasted, chopped) 2 liang,Areca nut (chopped) 1 liang, Cinnamon bark (coarse bark removed) 1 liang, Dried lacquer (stir-fried until smoke rises) 1 liang, Magnolia bark (coarse bark removed, roasted with ginger juice) 1 liang, Aconite root (roasted until cracked, skin and pith removed) 1 liang, Frankincense 1 liang, Curcuma zedoaria (baked) 1 liang, Dendrobium (roots removed) 1 liang,Cardamom (peeled) 1 liang, Trifoliate Orange Peel (pitted, stir-fried with wheat bran) 1 liang, Angelica Root (sliced, baked) 1 liang, Atractylodes (chopped, stir-fried) 1 liang, Achyranthes Root (soaked in wine, sliced, baked) 1 liang, Platycodon Root (chopped, stir-fried) 1 liang,Aster tataricus (stems and soil removed) 1 liang, Ligusticum chuanxiong 1 liang, Paeonia lactiflora 1 liang, Terminalia chebula bark 1 liang, aged tangerine peel (white pith removed, roasted) 1 liang, aged rice malt (roasted) 1 liang, Lycium barbarum bark 1 liang, nutmeg 10 pieces (shells removed), Bupleurum chinense (stems removed) 3 liang.
