Drug Formulation

4 liang of cinnabar, 1 liang of Coptis, 1 liang of mouse-ear hawkweed, 5 qian of lithospermum (first decoct these three herbs twice, using 4 bowls of water each time and reducing to 2 bowls; strain out the residue; wrap the cinnabar in cloth, thread it onto a string, and suspend it above the pot—one finger’s width above the bottom—then simmer it in the previous decoction until dry; remove the cinnabar and sun-dry it), 6 liang of Angelica sinensis,5 liang of Chuanxiong, 4 liang of Shengma, and 3 liang of Licorice (decoct the above ingredients twice as described, using 10 bowls of water each time and reducing to 5 bowls; then prepare the cinnabar as described above, continuing to simmer until the liquid is completely evaporated).

Processing

Take 1 sheng of glutinous rice, roast until golden yellow, and store in a porcelain jar with a tight-fitting lid.

For a one-year-old child, use 1 fen each of cinnabar and glutinous rice, mix with 1 spoon of white honey and half a bottle of rice water, and administer 1 spoon daily.
