Drug Formulation

1 liang of sulfur; 1 liang of mercury (roast these two ingredients together until they form a sandy texture); 1 liang of azurite; 1 liang of cinnabar; 1 liang of realgar; 1 liang of white quartz; 1 liang of purple quartz; 1 liang of lead丹; 1 liang of pyrophyllite; 1 liang of white lead;2 liang of sodium carbonate (finely grind each of the above 11 ingredients; place them in a porcelain box with a small opening left in the lid; seal the exterior with Liu Yi clay; after it dries, heat gently over low flame for one fu-shi; then close the opening, and burn over high flame until the contents turn completely red; remove from heat and let cool; take out the medicine, wrap it in paper, and bury it in the ground for 3 days to remove the fire toxicity; take it out, grind it to a very fine powder, and mix it with the remaining ingredients), 1 liang of borneol,Musk 1 liang, Ox Bile 1 liang, Amber 1 liang, Indian Turmeric (finely ground) 1 liang, Black Snake (soaked in wine for 3 days, skin and bones removed, roasted) 1 liang, Tiger Bone (roasted with ghee) 1 liang, Licorice (roasted) 1 liang, Tiannanxing (processed) 1 liang, White Aconite Root (processed) 1 liang,Tianma 1 liang, Ephedra (roots and nodes removed) 1 liang, Dried Scorpion (roasted) 1 liang, Cinnamon Bark (coarse bark removed) 1 liang, Wood Fragrance 1 liang, Areca Nut (chopped) 1 liang, Du Huo (root tip removed) 1 liang, Asarum (stems and leaves removed) 1 liang, Atractylodes 1 liang, Aconite Root (roasted, split, and with skin and navel removed) 1 liang,White Silkworm Pupae (roasted) 1 liang, Rhinoceros Horn (chipped) 1 liang, Gazelle Horn (chipped) 1 liang, Ligusticum Root 1 liang, Donkey-hide Gelatin (crushed and roasted until dry) 1 liang, Cicada Shedding (cleaned of soil) half a liang, Talcum Powder (ground) half a liang.

Processing

Except for the ingredients previously calcined and ground, grind the remaining herbs into a fine powder; mix them thoroughly, then combine with refined honey and pound 1,000–2,000 times to form pills the size of small marbles.
