Processing

Place each of the above herbs in a mortar, grind into a fine powder, and mix them together at 5:00 a.m. on the 5th day of the 5th month or the 9th day of the 9th month for optimal results. Form into pills the size of a chicken’s head using a thin paste of glutinous rice.

Instructions for Use

If someone has been poisoned and feels fullness in the flanks, with pain and distension in the chest and abdomen, first have the patient chew a black bean and smell it; if it does not smell fishy, it confirms poisoning. Immediately have the patient swallow one pill with good tea, without chewing it.Within moments, the patient will feel a sensation in the chest resembling the sound of a leather strap snapping, and the toxin will be expelled—either through the mouth or nose, or via the stool. If the toxin is “young” (i.e., derived from blood), it can be counteracted; if “old” (i.e., from venom), break a tooth and administer the medicine through the gap. For all poisons—including those from snakes, scorpions, and horse sweat—simply grind fine vinegar and apply it to the wound to neutralize the poison immediately.

Note

Avoid alcohol and meat-based toxic foods for one month.
