Drug Formulation

5 liang of rhubarb, 2 liang of angelica root, 2 liang of peony root, 2 liang of scutellaria root, 2 liang of trichosanthes fruit, 2 liang of licorice (roasted), 2 liang of cinnamon bark, 2 liang of ginseng, 2 liang of red cinnabar, 2 liang of oyster shell (roasted), 2 liang of purple quartz, and 2 liang of ephedra (knots removed).

Grind the above herbs into a fine powder and place them in a leather pouch.

Instructions for Use

For an 8-year-old child: Take 5 dried jujubes and boil them in 8 he of water. Reduce to 5 he, then add 2 finger-pinchfuls of the medicine to the decoction and boil for 3 boils. Strain out the residue and administer the liquid to the child. After the child has a bowel movement, the symptoms will subside with a slight sweat. For a 10-year-old, use 10 jujubes, 3 finger-pinchfuls of the medicine, and 1 sheng of water; boil for 3 boils and administer.
