Chinese Name : 乌头膏

Drug Formulation

Half a liang of Aconite, half a liang of Realgar, half a liang of Orpiment, half a liang of Ligusticum, half a liang of Cimicifuga, 2–7 apricot kernels, 1 fen of lead white, 7 croton seeds (peeled), half a liang of Phellodendron, 1 clump of tangled hair the size of a chicken’s egg, 1 clump of pine resin the size of a chicken’s egg, 3 fen of Stephania, and half a liang of Coptis.

Instructions for Use

Chop the ingredients finely, then quickly simmer them in 3 sheng of lard until the tangled hair is completely dissolved. Strain out the residue, let the mixture cool slightly, then add 2 qian of genuine pearl, stirring until well blended. First, clean the sore with warm vinegar-mixed rice water, pat it dry, and then apply the mixture; afterward, dust the area with a powder made from red cinnabar and Coptis.
