Drug Formulation
1 black hen (prepared as described in the recipe above), 2 liang of Poria, 1 sheng of Evodia, 2 liang of peony root, 2 liang of Atractylodes, 5 he of Ophiopogon, 3 liang of ginseng, 2 liang of donkey-hide gelatin, 1 liang of licorice, and 1 liang of fresh ginger.

Benefits
In the first month of pregnancy, when yin and yang combine to form the fetus, excessive cold causes pain; excessive heat leads to sudden startles; lifting heavy objects causes lower back pain; abdominal distension and a tight uterus may result in sudden discharge.
Instructions for Use
Coarsely chop the ingredients. Boil with 1 dou 2 sheng of water; simmer the chicken to extract 6 sheng of broth. Remove the chicken, add the herbs, and decoct until reduced to 3 sheng. Add 3 sheng of wine and the donkey-hide gelatin, stirring until completely dissolved. Let the mixture cool to lukewarm. Take 1 sheng per dose, three times daily.
