Drug Formulation

1.5 qian of Bupleurum, 1.5 qian of raw Trifoliate Orange Peel, 1.5 qian of Sichuan Magnolia Bark, 1.5 qian of Green Tangerine Peel, 0.7 fen of roasted Licorice, 1.5 qian of Scutellaria, 1 qian of Bitter Platycodon, 0.6 fen of Cardamom, 2 qian of Areca Nut, and 5 cun of lotus leaf stalk.

Note

If dampness has already been resolved and heat has already been expelled, but the “ministerial fire” is raging, administering this formula will actually fuel the fire further, depleting bile and scorching liver yin, thereby leading to a condition where intense fire generates wind, accompanied by spasms and syncope. Caution is advised when using this formula.
