Formulas Name : Coptis and Donkey-Hide Gelatin Decoction

Chinese Name : 黄连阿胶汤

Drug Formulation

4 liang of Coptis, 2 liang of Scutellaria, 2 liang of Paeonia, 2 egg yolks, 3 liang of donkey-hide gelatin (one source states 3 ting).

Processing

Combine the five ingredients with 6 sheng of water. First, boil the first three ingredients until reduced to 2 sheng; strain out the residue. Add the donkey-hide gelatin and melt it completely. Allow the mixture to cool slightly, then add the egg yolks and stir until well blended.

Benefits

For Shaoyin syndrome characterized by restlessness in the chest and inability to sleep; pathogenic fire attacking internally, causing heat to injure yin and blood, resulting in diarrhea with pus and blood.

Instructions for Use

Take 7 he warm, three times daily.
