Drug Formulation

1 liang of Mao Dan (the pith inside the Mao Zhen plant), 1 liang of Gardenia seeds, 1 liang of Sophora flavescens (chopped), 2 liang of beeswax, 7 jin of pure sesame oil, and half a liang of talcum powder.

Processing

Grind the three ingredients—including the Mao Dan—into a fine powder. First, simmer the oil and wax over low heat until the wax melts. Add the powdered herbs and talcum powder, stirring continuously until well blended, then transfer to a porcelain jar.

Apply a small amount to the sore 4–5 times a day.
