Drug Formulation

1 jin of zinc oxide, 4 liang of Coptis, and borneol to taste.

Processing

First, place the zinc oxide in a very hot fire and calcine it until it glows red-hot; separately, place 1 bowl of water in a porcelain container, add the Coptis to the water, and then quench it seven times with the red-hot zinc oxide. Place the porcelain container in the sun to dry, then grind the Coptis into a fine powder; when ready to use, take 1–2 liang and grind it again until extremely fine, then add Borneol as needed.

Instructions for Use

Each time, use a small amount, mix it with well water to form a thick paste, and before bedtime, dip the tip of a chopstick into it and apply it to the affected area; for areas without open sores, apply it to the inner canthus of the eye—it is particularly effective for the outer canthus.

Note

Do not allow the mixture to enter the eye.
