Atractylodes lancea 5 qian (soaked in rice water overnight), Chenpi 5 qian (white pith removed), Fangfeng (root stalk removed) 3 qian, Lithospermum 3 qian, Schizonepeta spikelets 3 qian, Red Peony Root 5 qian, Magnolia officinalis (processed with ginger, stir-fried) 2 qian,Bupleurum (stem removed) 2 qian, Amomum 2 qian, Ligusticum 5 qian, Angelica (soaked in wine) 2 qian, Dried Ginger 2 qian, Arctium seeds (roasted) 2 qian, Licorice (roasted) 1 qian, Scutellaria 2 qian.

Instructions for Use

Take 7 snail shells, 7 cun of peach twigs, and 7 cun of willow twigs. Soak them thoroughly in mung bean broth, then remove the bark to yield half a zhan. Clean the pot thoroughly, add well water, and simmer until cooked. Strain out the residue and collect the clear liquid. Grind 1 qian of realgar into a fine powder, add it to the pot, and stir until well blended. Measure out 4 zhan of the mixture and administer it to patients whose smallpox has already erupted, those who have just begun to show symptoms, and those who have not yet developed symptoms.
