Drug Formulation

5 qian of Polygonum aviculare, 5 fen of Lycopodium spikelets, 5 qian of barley malt, 2.5 qian of Shenqu, 1.5 qian of agarwood, 1.5 qian of wood fragrant, 0.5 fen of licorice, and 2 liang of rhubarb.

Grind the ingredients into a fine powder and mix thoroughly according to the specified proportions.

Instructions for Use

For men, decoct equal parts of licorice and bamboo leaves in water; for women, decoct equal parts of safflower, rush pith, and angelica in water. At dusk, mix the decoction with uncharred rice wine—using more wine than decoction—and take it. The treatment is complete when foul substances are expelled in the urine and feces.

Note

Avoid greasy and gas-inducing foods, as well as sexual intercourse, for one month.
