Instructions for Use

First, crush 1 jin of green salt and decoct it in 5 bowls of well water; strain and grind into a fine powder. Next, decoct the five herbs (sliced into pieces) in 8 sheng of water until reduced to 4 sheng. Filter through a horsehair sieve lined with a thin layer of cotton to remove impurities. Add the green salt to the herbal decoction and simmer over alternating high and low heat until completely dry. Each morning while washing your face, dip your finger in water and gently wipe the entire surface of your teeth, both upper and lower. Then take half a mouthful of water, swish it around 36 times, spit it into your hand, and use it to wash your face and eyes—this is most effective. If you feel a slight toothache, repeat the wiping procedure in the evening as described above; wiping your teeth regularly before bed is also effective. If rock salt is unavailable, finely ground table salt may be used instead, with 1 sheng of water (equivalent to 1 tea cup). Adding 5 qian of Asarum is particularly effective.
