*Secret Essentials from the Outer Pavilion*
Instructions for Use
For white rashes, wipe the affected area with a decoction of white alum in water; alternatively, boil the fruit of the *Capsella* plant with a small amount of wine and bathe in it; or wipe with a decoction of *Erica* in wine; or wipe with a decoction of chicken droppings in water; or wipe with a decoction of *Zhishi* (Citrus aurantium). The treatment methods are identical to those for treating erythema. (As recorded in *Ji Yan*) Another Formula: Grind *Atractylodes macrocephala* into powder; take one fangcun bi with wine three times daily until five jin have been consumed. Another formula: Soak and wash the affected area with a decoction of calcined lime. Another formula: Decoct the roots and leaves of Angelica dahurica to make a decoction, and wash the affected area with it. Another formula: Take one fangcun bi of ground mustard seeds mixed with vinegar and water, three times daily, until cured. This also treats red hives on the body that are itchy; scratching them causes swelling wherever the hand touches. Eupatorium (2 fen), Angelica sinensis, Ligusticum chuanxiong, Rhododendron flower, Euphorbia, Asarum, Paeonia lactiflora, Datura flower, Aconite (roasted), Sichuan pepper (each 4 fen), pork lard (2.5 sheng) Chop the above eleven ingredients, combine them with the pork fat, and simmer until the Aconite turns yellow and the fat is rendered. Strain out the residue, store the mixture, and apply it to the affected area three times daily until the condition resolves. Another formula: Soak two liang of alum in three sheng of wine until softened; use this to wipe the affected area, and the condition will resolve immediately.
