Drug Formulation

Cinnamon Twig (peeled) 3 qian, Peony Root (peeled, steamed in honey water, sun-dried three times, and coarsely crushed) 6 qian, Fresh Ginger (sliced) 3 slices, Licorice (ends removed, soaked in wine, steamed, and roasted until yellow) 4 qian,3 jujubes (with seeds), half a he of unhusked rice (rinsed clean), gypsum (finely ground, washed with licorice water, clarified, and sun-dried) 1 liang 5 qian, Anemarrhena (coarsely chopped on a locust wood chopping block, then pounded in a dry wooden mortar) 5 qian, Scutellaria (select those with decayed pith; moisten thoroughly with east-flowing water, steam, and sun-dry) 6 qian,Cinnamon Bark (select pieces about one cun thick, purplish-red in color, with a pungent-sweet taste; remove one layer of coarse inner and outer bark; coarsely chop; do not expose to fire) 3 qian.

Instructions for Use

Boil 4 sheng of water down to 1.5 sheng, strain out the residue, and divide the decoction into three doses to be taken warm—one dose each before the onset, at the onset, and after the onset.
