Drug Formulation

Huai Shengdi (first wash thoroughly with wine, then mix evenly with wine; place in a coarse bowl, set the bowl inside a sandpot, and steam in a double boiler for half a day; remove, add wine, and steam again until extremely black; then mix with ginger juice and bake dry over low heat) 8 liang,Cornus officinalis (steamed with wine, pitted, and pulp retained) 4 liang, Huai yam 4 liang, Poria cocos (peeled, with fibrous membranes removed, soaked in milk and sun-dried three times) 3 liang, Moutan bark (deboned) 3 liang, Alisma 3 liang.

Processing

Grind the above ingredients into an extremely fine powder. Take one set of first-birth placenta (use a male placenta for a male patient, a female placenta for a female patient), wash it thoroughly under running water, place it in a porcelain bowl inside a clay pot, and steam over alternating low and high heat for one day until completely soft. Transfer to a mortar and pound into a paste. Add the medicinal powder and pound over a thousand times to form pills the size of a Paulownia seed.

Instructions for Use

Take 100 pills per dose, washed down with plain hot water on an empty stomach; if kidney yin fails to nourish spleen earth, resulting in excessive phlegm and spittle, take with ginger tea. Alternatively, dissolving the formula in wine mixed with dragon’s blood gelatin to form pills is particularly effective.
