Formulas Name : Hu Huanglian Pills
Chinese Name : 胡黄连丸
Drug Formulation
Half a liang of Hu Huanglian, half a liang of Qingdai (finely ground), 1 fen of Mu Xiang, 2–7 snails (lightly roasted until slightly yellow), half a liang of Diliang (lightly roasted), 1 qian of Chan Su (ground into the mixture), half a liang of Huanglian (stems removed), 1 fen of areca nut,5 dung beetles (lightly roasted, wings and legs removed), 1 fen cinnabar (finely ground), 1 fen musk (finely ground), 1 fen angelica root (lightly roasted), 1 fen rhino horn shavings, 1 fen dried scorpion (lightly roasted), 1 fen snake shed skin (burned to ash), 1 fen aloe (finely ground), 1 fen duhuo,1 fen of ox bile (finely ground), 5 stems of pig’s tooth soapberry (peeled, coated with butter, and roasted until golden brown).

Processing
Grind the above ingredients into a fine powder, mix with pig bile, and form into pills the size of mung beans.

Take 5 pills per dose, washed down with congee, three times daily.
