Cast into thin, square plates; pierce holes with an iron rod and thread a string through them. Fill a clean porcelain jar with 1 dou of rice vinegar; suspend the lead plates in a row at the mouth of the jar, leaving about 1 cun of vinegar above them, then seal the jar tightly with paper.Once every 7 days, remove the lead plates and gently scrape off the precipitate onto clean paper using a fine-mesh sieve; repeat this process only once every 7 days. After 5–7 cycles, the efficacy will diminish significantly; at that point, use fresh lead to prepare a new batch. For every 1 liang of precipitate, add half a fen of borneol, grind together into a fine powder, and form into pills the size of a paulownia seed using dew as the binder.
