Drug Formulation

20 liang of colophony (clarified with water 7 times), 8 liang of Aconitum carmichaeli, 4 liang of Aconitum carmichaeli var. chuanwu (decoct the above two ingredients in 2 buckets of water until concentrated; strain out the dregs), 2 jin of fresh Acorus tatarinowii (decocted until concentrated; strain out the dregs), 1 liang of Saposhnikovia divaricata, 1 liang of Schizonepeta tenuifolia, 1 liang of Notopterygium incisum, and 1 liang of Glycyrrhiza uralensis (decoct in 1 bucket of water until concentrated; let settle and remove the sediment).

Processing

Use the decoction of the two Aconite varieties to boil the colophony until dry; next, add the decoction of Fangfeng and the other ingredients to boil the colophony until dry; then add the Acorus decoction to boil the colophony until dry; finally, add one bowl of vinegar to boil the colophony until dry. Simmer to remove the toxic properties from the fire, then sun-dry and grind into a powder. For upper-body ailments, form into pills with vinegar; for lower-body ailments, form into pills with flour paste.

Instructions for Use

Initially, take 1.5 qian for 3 days; then, for the next 3 days, take 2.5 qian in two doses; on the 7th day, take 1.5 qian twice daily; on the 10th day, take 2.5 qian twice daily. Repeat this cycle indefinitely, taking the medicine on an empty stomach with wine.
