Drug Formulation

1 liang Sichuan rhubarb, 1 liang Amomum villosum seeds (peeled), 1 liang Poria cocos, 1 liang Poria sclerotium (peeled and woody parts removed), 1 liang Vitex negundo seeds (flowers and leaves removed), 1 liang Clematis chinensis (soil removed),1 liang of Tianma, 1 liang of Xianlingpi (stems removed), 1 liang of Wu Bai Zhi, 1 liang of Shan Zhi Zi (seven-ribbed, small ones preferred, peel removed), 1 fen of Musk (ground separately), 1 fen of Fine Ink, and 4 liang of Sichuan Aconite (raw, peel and navel removed).

Processing

Grind all the above ingredients into a fine powder, mix in the musk and ink, and blend thoroughly. Form into pills the size of a Paulownia seed using refined honey.

Instructions for Use

Take 2 pills per dose, washed down with peppermint juice or warm wine; in cases of sudden stroke, grind 4 pills and take them with warm water mixed with soapberry and white alum; for paralysis due to wind, take 3–5 pills daily; for regular use, take 1 pill, washed down with tea or wine as desired; for infantile convulsions, mix in a small amount of talcum powder, dissolve half a pill in peppermint juice, and administer orally; for scrofula, take 1 pill washed down with clear scallion tea.
