Drug Formulation

1 jin of Daizhashi (calcined until red, quenched in vinegar 10 or so times), half a jin of purple quartz, half a jin of Yuyuliang (calcined until red, quenched in rice vinegar several times), and half a jin of red ochre(no need to quench with vinegar. Grind the above ingredients into a fine powder; wash with water until extremely fine; place in a crucible, seal the opening, and secure with salt mud until dry; calcine with 30 jin of charcoal until the fire is completely extinguished; then grind again until as fine as powder), Aconite Root (roasted until cracked, peel and pith removed) 1 liang, Aconite Root (roasted, peel and pith removed) 1 liang,Cardamom (wrapped in damp flour, roasted until fragrant, then remove the flour) 1 liang, Cloves 1 liang, Agarwood 1 liang, Black Pepper 1 liang, Epimedium (stir-fried until fragrant) 1 liang, Frankincense (ground separately) 1 liang, Myrrh (ground separately) 1 liang, Stalactite Powder 1 liang (ground separately. An alternative formula omits cloves and black pepper, and adds 1 liang each of Angelica sinensis and Dragon’s Blood).

Processing

Grind the ingredients into a fine powder. Use a glutinous rice dumpling to mix in a small amount of hot water, then roll into pills the size of a chicken’s head; slightly smaller is also acceptable.
