Drug Formulation

1 jin of Indian turmeric (powdered), 2 ingots of ink (regardless of size; do not use them all), 1 qian of musk (ground), 1 qian of cinnabar (ground and water-washed), half a liang of mercury, and half a liang of tin.

Processing

First, melt the tin in a crucible; add the mercury to form sand-like crystals. Grind these in a mortar until smooth. Next, add the powdered ingredients and grind until uniformly fine. Then, use concentrated ink water to form pills the size of a marble. Line a basin with paper dusted with ash, and spread the pills on the paper to air-dry.

Instructions for Use

For a 10-year-old child, take 1 pill divided into 3–4 doses; for a 7–8-year-old, divide into 4 doses; for a 5–6-year-old, divide into 6 doses; for a 3–4-year-old, divide into 10 doses; for a 1–2-year-old, divide into 16 doses; and for a newborn or a child celebrating their first hundred days, divide into 30 doses. This formula may cause mild diarrhea.For regular use, take one dose every ten days. For children with wind-heat-induced epilepsy, convulsions, excessive drooling, coughing, and wheezing, adjust the dosage as needed. If wind symptoms arise after vomiting or diarrhea, it is safe to take this medicine. This medicine has a warm nature; take it in small doses and dissolve it in hot water before swallowing. When preparing the decoction, do not use iron utensils.
