Drug Formulation

5 jin of white Poria (remove the black skin and chop finely), 5 liang of licorice (chop finely).

From *Shenghui*, Volume 94.

Processing

Combine the ingredients with 6 dou of water; first decoct the licorice until the volume is reduced to 3 dou, strain out the dregs and clarify the liquid, then return it to the cauldron. Add 3 sheng of white honey and 9 sheng of good-quality cow’s milk, mix well, and simmer the Poria over low heat until the milk and honey are completely absorbed; then remove from heat. While still hot, press and crumble the mixture, pick out and remove any red fibers, then knead it thoroughly until it resembles flour, and air-dry it until completely dry.

Instructions for Use

Initial dose: 3 qian, mixed with water; gradually increase the dose as tolerated, 4–5 times daily.

Note

Avoid rice and vinegar-based foods.
