Wild Tianma (also known as Chuanwei seeds. Harvest with roots intact when the flowers are in full bloom; air-dry; use the leaves, flowers, and seeds; avoid contact with iron utensils).

Processing

Grind into a fine powder using stone utensils, then mix with refined honey to form pills the size of a marble.

Instructions for Use

Chew and swallow according to symptoms, washing down with broth; alternatively, burn the root until its essence remains, grind into a powder, and take with wine. There is no fixed number of pills to take; treatment continues until the illness is cured. Alternatively, make pills the size of a Paulownia seed, taking 50–70 pills per dose; or pound the herb to extract its juice, filter it thoroughly, and boil it into a paste for consumption.For abdominal or umbilical pain or rumbling sounds before childbirth, take with rice water; for stabbing pain in the abdomen or umbilical region, fetal restlessness, or unstoppable vaginal bleeding before or after childbirth, take with Angelica Decoction; after childbirth, dissolve one pill in a child’s urine and take it; for retained placenta, transverse presentation, failure to expel a stillborn fetus, or persistent bloating, chest tightness, and chest pain lasting for days, take with decoction of roasted salt;For postpartum blood stasis, blackened vision, blood heat, thirst, restlessness, hallucinations of ghosts or spirits, delirium, and loss of consciousness, dissolve the pill in a mixture of a child’s urine and wine; for postpartum blood clots, severe pain in the umbilical region and abdomen, intermittent chills and fever, cold sweats, or a greasy complexion with a flushed face and heat in the palms, soles, and chest, take the pill with a child’s urine and wine, or with fresh peppermint juice;Postpartum retained lochia, with stagnation and stabbing pain, rising to the chest and causing fullness and oppression: take with a boy’s urine and wine; postpartum bloody diarrhea: take with jujube decoction; postpartum dysentery: take with rice water; postpartum excessive or irregular uterine bleeding: take with glutinous rice decoction; postpartum red and white vaginal discharge: take with a decoction of gelatin and mugwort; irregular menstruation: take with warm wine;Postpartum stroke with clenched jaws, hemiplegia, and loss of voice: take with a child’s urine and wine; postpartum shortness of breath and cough, chest and diaphragm congestion, nausea with sour regurgitation, facial and body swelling, pain in both flanks, and weakness in movement: take with warm wine; postpartum cough within the first month, spontaneous sweating and fever, which may progress to bone-consuming fever over time: take with a child’s urine and wine;Postpartum epistaxis, black tongue, and dry mouth—take with children’s urine and wine; postpartum pain in both temples, yawning with a palpitating heart, shortness of breath, emaciation, loss of appetite, blood-wind generating heat, numbness in hands and feet, and pain in all joints—take with rice gruel; postpartum obstruction of urination and defecation, accompanied by restlessness and a bitter taste in the mouth—take with peppermint decoction; women who have long been childless—take with warm wine.
