Chinese Name : 大枣杏仁丸

Drug Formulation

40 jujubes (steamed with rice, peeled and pitted), 5 liang of Lepidium seeds (select the bitter variety; roast until purple), 3 liang of apricot kernels (roast until yellow) (one formula adds firefly droppings).

Processing

Take the three ingredients above: first, pound the Tingli seeds 10,000 times with a pestle, then strain out the liquid; next, pound the almonds 300 times with a pestle; combine the mixture with jujube paste and pound a total of 10,000 times until the medicine is ready; form into pills the size of a jujube pit.

Instructions for Use

Take 8 pills on an empty stomach at dawn; after the evening meal has been digested, take another 5 pills, washed down with rice water. After 3 days, take 5 pills every morning and 3 pills every evening. If, while taking the medicine, you suddenly develop dysentery, eat 2–3 mouthfuls of rice first, then take the medicine; if there is excessive diarrhea, discontinue the medicine immediately; boil adzuki beans until soft, and do not eat them with salt.

Note

Avoid salty, sticky, greasy, and extremely hot or cold foods; consume only glutinous rice or millet rice with a little vinegar. Do not eat thin congee; only plain rice is suitable. If you crave congee, cook it thick; do not allow loose stools. If you have previously experienced loose stools, accompanied by a protruding navel, severe abdominal distension, and full palms, do not take this medicine.
