Qingyang Ointment，From *Li Ye*.，For wind-heat conditions—including all types of “fire” affecting the head, face, cheeks, throat, ears, eyes, nose, tongue, teeth, and gums, as well as excess fire in the Triple Burner, thirst, and constipation—as well as epidemic colds, typhoid fever, plague, heat toxins, constricted chest syndrome, stroke, febrile disorders, and “crane-knee wind,” along with all internal and external abscesses,erysipelas, swollen abscesses, frostbite, fever, damp-heat, wandering abscesses, hemorrhoids, as well as conditions involving blood stasis with chest and abdominal distension and pain; in women, heat-induced blood stasis and amenorrhea; in children, febrile convulsions and phlegm-heat; and in patients suffering from residual toxins following smallpox.

Processing
Decoct the above herbs in 10 jin of cold-pressed sesame oil; add 60 liang of stir-fried yellow丹 to thicken the mixture. Then add 80 liang of raw gypsum, 4 liang of fly-swept talc, 2 liang of Guangdong gum, and 1 liang each of frankincense, myrrh, realgar, and indigo powder, along with 5 qian of mercuric oxide and 2–3 qian of borneol or peppermint oil. Stir well, combine both mixtures, and shape into dozens of pills the size of an egg. Soak in water to remove the toxic heat.

Instructions for Use
Take 1 pill per dose; dissolve it over boiling water, then apply the resulting paste in an amount appropriate to the affected area.
Note
Contraindicated for pregnant women; however, it may be applied to areas that do not affect the fetus.
