Drug Formulation
2 liang of croton seed (remove the kernels; use only the seed coat—from 2 liang of seeds, you can obtain 3–4 qian of seed coat; lightly roast until yellow; under no circumstances use even a single seed kernel), 1 liang of cardamom (roasted), 3 qian of Sichuan rhubarb (half raw, half roasted), 3 qian of dried ginger (roasted until black), 3 qian of Guangxi frankincense (roasted until black),Soapberry 2 pieces (remove the fibers, roast), Gan Sui 1 qian 5 fen (soak in licorice water for 3 days, changing the water once daily until the water is no longer black; then wrap in flour and roast over a fire until the flour turns yellow).

Processing
Grind the above ingredients into a fine powder, sift through a silk sieve, mix with vinegar and flour to form a paste, and roll into pills the size of mung beans. Grind soot from the bottom of a wok into a fine powder to coat the pills, then dry in the sun.

Instructions for Use
Take 30–40 pills per dose, taken on an empty stomach in the morning with ginger tea.Each dose may induce two or three bowel movements; take daily and have daily bowel movements; as the bowel movements continue daily, the swelling will gradually subside. Stools will gradually become firmer, and urine will become clearer and more abundant. Continue taking the medicine until the fluid has completely subsided. However, adjust the number of pills according to the patient’s age, physical condition, and the severity of diarrhea; do not adhere rigidly to the prescribed amount. This remedy will cure the condition with at most one full dose or at least half a dose.
Note
Avoid salt and soy sauce for over 100 days.
