Take on an empty stomach, three times daily. First, pound 2 jin each of scallion bulbs and fresh ginger into a paste, then simmer in sesame oil until cooked. Wrap the mixture in fresh, loose-weave cloth to make 6–7 pouches.First, scrape off the skin and hair from the castor bean, grind it into a powder, and administer 2 fen to robust individuals and 1 fen to the elderly or frail; then, have each person take one packet of the medicine and rub it all over the patient’s body. Dress the patient in blue cotton shirts, pants, and socks, cover them tightly with a cotton quilt, and ensure the sleeping area is draft-free; alternatively, light a charcoal fire. After profuse sweating, gradually remove the covering, then have the patient rise and move closer to the fire; Then take the aforementioned medicine, and the patient will naturally recover. If the body feels as hot as charcoal and becomes itchy, crush Acorus tatarinowii, boil it into a decoction, and use it to bathe the affected area, ensuring the surroundings are completely sealed off from drafts. Repeat this bath several times until the black skin peels off, and the skin returns to normal.

Note

If exposed to even a slight draft, paralysis will inevitably result; the utmost caution is required.
