Drug Formulation

1 duck (a male mallard; pluck, wash, and remove impurities; set aside for later use), 3 liang of Southern Atractylodes, 1 liang of Fangfeng, 5 qian of Schizonepeta, 3 qian of Realgar, 3 qian of Amomum, 3 qian of Guangmu Xiang, and 3 liang of Coix Seed.

Instructions for Use

Grind the ingredients into a powder, mix with wine, and stuff the mixture into the duck. Sew it closed with thread, place it in a porcelain jar, and soak it in 3–4 jin of aged, ash-free wine. Seal the jar, place it in a double-boiler, and simmer until four sticks of incense have burned out; then remove the herbs. Drink the duck wine hot in 8–9 doses. Recovery will follow once the treatment is complete, as evidenced by the passing of flatulence.

Note

Avoid all salty foods, emotional distress, and raw or cold foods for 100 days.
