Drug Formulation

Half a liang of rhubarb, half a liang of astragalus, half a liang of earthworm (cleaned of soil), half a liang of angelica root, half a liang of dragon bone, half a liang of seaweed, 2 qian of frankincense, 2 qian of myrrh, 1 qian of borneol, 11 Jiangzi (peeled), a pinch of musk, 3 qian of borax, 3 qian of realgar, 3 qian of Sichuan tortoise shell, and 3 qian of mercury oxide.

Processing

Take 1 dou of buckwheat ash; decoct and filter the ash three times. Decoct the liquid until it is reduced by one-third. Add 5 qian of wild goose droppings and decoct until it boils about ten times; remove from heat, let cool, and clarify. Re-decoct, adding rhubarb powder, and bring to a boil three times.then add 3 liang each of Magnolia Bark and Alkali, adding 3 liang of lime and half a liang of orpiment for every 1 liang of medicine, stirring continuously. Continue boiling until a drop of the decoction placed in water remains undissolved; only then should it be removed from the heat and stored in a bottle.
