Moisturizing Lung and Cough-Relieving Ointment

Formulas Name : Moisturizing Lung and Cough-Relieving Ointment
Chinese Name : 润肺止嗽膏
Drug Formulation
1 liang of vegetable oil, 2 liang of honey, half a liang of fresh ginger juice, 2 qian of Aster tataricus, 2 qian of Ephedra, 2 qian of apricot kernels, 2 qian of Asarum, 2 qian of Platycodon, 2 qian of Terminalia chebula, and 2 qian of calcined alum.

Processing
Excluding the alum, honey, and ginger juice, decoct the remaining herbs in 3 bowls of water until reduced to 1 bowl; then add 2 bowls of water and decoct until reduced to 3 fen; add another 1.5 bowls of water to the residue and decoct until reduced to 4 fen. Combine the two decoctions and boil down to 1 bowl. Add the alum, honey, and ginger juice, then simmer over low heat until the mixture turns jet black to form the ointment.

Instructions for Use
Take 3–5 spoonfuls before bedtime. For children aged 6–7, take 2–3 spoonfuls per dose.
