Drug Formulation

2 liang of mulberry root bark (chopped), 5 he of hemp seeds (rinsed and ground), 5 zhan of clear wine (boil the first two ingredients down to 3 zhan, strain to extract the juice and discard the residue), 30 jujubes (large ones; remove the flesh), 2 liang of maltose,Donkey-hide gelatin (roasted until dry) 1 liang, honey 5 dahe (combine the date pulp, sugar, and gelatin; simmer together for 1 zhan until it becomes a paste), dried ginger (roasted until cracked) half a liang, Magnolia bark (coarse bark removed; roasted seven times with ginger juice; coarsely chopped) half a liang, Sichuan pepper (seeds and closed pods removed; stir-fried until sweaty) 1 fen,Cinnamon (with coarse bark removed) 1 fen, licorice (roasted until reddish) 1 fen, Phellodendron bark (finely chopped) 1 fen, raw dried rehmannia (baked) 1 fen, Scrophularia root 1 fen, Schisandra berries 1 fen, peony root half liang.

Processing

Decoct the first 7 ingredients into a thin paste; grind the remaining 10 ingredients into a powder. Mix the powder with the paste, shape into pills coated with ghee, each the size of a marble.
