Drug Formulation

5 qian of clear rosin, 5 qian of asphalt, and 2 qian of hemp seed kernels.

Processing

Place the three ingredients on a large blue stone and pound them finely with an iron hammer until the mixture sticks firmly to the hammer; stop when it becomes as clear as water. Add 1 qian of fly cinnabar, pound several hundred more times, and transfer the mixture to a small porcelain cup.

Instructions for Use

If a boil is in its early stages, place the small porcelain cup over a double boiler to melt the mixture. Cut a piece of new blue cloth to the size of the boil, use a bamboo chopstick to spread the ointment to a thickness of about one wen coin, and apply it to the affected area.The pain will cease immediately; shortly thereafter, the toxic fluid will gradually drain away, and the root of the boil will be drawn out like a wick. Reapply the original ointment; for severe cases, replace it with one more application, and the condition will be completely cured.
