Drug Formulation

3 liang of Duhuo, 2 liang of rhinoceros horn (ground into powder), 2 liang of Dendrobium (pre-boiled), 2 liang of Salvia miltiorrhiza, 1 liang of Cnidium monnieri (roasted), 2 liang of Saposhnikovia divaricata, 2 liang of Stephania tetrandra, 2 liang of Ligusticum chuanxiong, 3 liang of fresh ginger, 2 liang of Angelica sinensis, 3 liang of Paeonia lactiflora, 4 liang of Poria cocos, 1.5 liang of Cinnamomum cassia, 2 liang of licorice (roasted).

For cases where toxic dampness from beriberi ascends to the heart, transforming into fluid, causing generalized swelling of the body, and leading to suffocation and near-death.

Instructions for Use

Boil 1 dou of water until reduced to 2 sheng and 6 he; strain out the residue; divide into 3 doses; wait 10 li before taking the next dose.After taking the decoction, rest as desired; there is no need to induce sweating. Take a total of 2–3 doses, with a 5-day interval between each dose. Upon first taking this medicine, if you feel the qi in your abdomen dispersing, strength returning to both legs, and movement unimpeded, treatment may be discontinued immediately. You may regularly consume fragrant fermented soybean wine and perform moxibustion on the Zusanli and Juegu acupoints, 300 moxa cones each.
