Drug Formulation

Realgar (ground) 1 qian, She-poppy (roasted on paper and ground into powder) 1 qian, Musk (ground) half a qian, Aloe (ground) half a fen.

Processing

First, melt 3 liang of pig fat from the twelfth lunar month, strain out the dregs; then add the ground purslane powder and simmer briefly; next, add the three ground herbs, stirring continuously until the mixture solidifies into a paste, then transfer to a porcelain container.

Instructions for Use

First, scrape the teeth clean; use a needle to draw out the foul blood; wipe dry with cotton; apply the ointment; then use an iron comb to apply heat, 2–3 times daily. Next, take Chuanxiong, Shengma, and Gaoben (with stems and soil removed), each half liang; Du Huo (with root tip removed) and Xixin (with stems and leaves removed), each 1 fen; pound and sift into a powder; apply an appropriate amount to the affected area.
