Drug Formulation

Freshly quarried lime from a lime mine.

The formula is from Volume 3 of *Hui Chun*; its name appears in Volume 5 of *Dong Yi Bao Jian: Miscellaneous Diseases*.

Processing

Place freshly kiln-fired lime ore into a pot of boiling water to dissolve it, then remove the residue. Boil it down with clean water until dry, roasting it until it turns yellow. If a yellow color is difficult to achieve, a reddish color is acceptable. Store it in a jar sealed with yellow wax to prevent air from escaping; it becomes ineffective after one or two years.

Instructions for Use

For individuals around 40 years of age who are physically robust, use 4 fen; for the elderly or those with weak constitutions, use no more than 2 fen, 2.5 fen, or 3 fen. Mix with 1–2 zhong of high-quality liquor; those able to drink may take 3–4 zhong. To treat dysphagia, especially in cases of long-standing difficulty swallowing, or when worms are vomited or passed, the condition will be cured. If no worms are expelled, take another dose when symptoms recur; if no symptoms occur, there is no need to take it, as the condition will resolve on its own.
