Drug Formulation

1 pair of Stone Swallows (calcined and ground into powder), 3 qian of pomegranate peel, 3 qian of gallnut, 1 qian of Coptis, 1 qian of alum, 5 fen of scraped copper patina, 3 qian of genuine donkey-hide gelatin, 3 qian of fish gelatin, and 3 qian of water gelatin.

Processing

Excluding the gelatins, grind the remaining six ingredients into a powder. Add 3–5 bowls of water to a large copper ladle and simmer over low heat, stirring constantly with locust and willow twigs until it becomes a thick paste. Just as it begins to form a paste, add 3 fen each of ice and musk, grind finely, stir until uniform, and store in a porcelain container.

Instructions for Use

Apply the mixture to the upper and lower eyelids with a new brush 3–5 times daily; reapply as it dries. The eyelashes will grow back on their own. This method is effective in cool weather, with results visible within 3 days; in mild cases, full regrowth occurs within 30 days, and in severe cases, the eyelashes will begin to grow outward within 50 days.
