Drug Formulation

Southern Candleweed 5 jin, sour pomegranate leaves 5 jin, and dried lotus seed sprouts 5 jin.

Processing

Collect the above three ingredients in early May and place them in a porcelain jar; seal it tightly with clay. Store it in direct sunlight until mid-June, when it should resemble black molasses. Grind it into a fine powder. Then, extract the juice from 5 jin of raw Rehmannia root and combine it with 5 he of white honey. Simmer these three ingredients together with the powdered mixture until it forms a paste. Next, add the following powdered herbs: 4 liang of Lycium bark, 4 liang of cooked dried Rehmannia root,2 liang of Terminalia chebula bark, 2 liang of Sichuan pepper (remove the seeds and any closed pods; lightly roast to remove moisture), 2 liang of Angelica dahurica, 2 liang of Inula flower, 2 liang of Cinnamomum cassia bark, and 3 liang of apricot kernels (soak in hot water, remove the skin, tips, and double kernels; roast with wheat bran until slightly yellow). Grind the above ingredients into a powder, add it to the paste prepared earlier, and simmer over low heat. When the mixture is ready for pill-making, form it into pills the size of a Paulownia seed.

Instructions for Use

Take 30 pills daily on an empty stomach, washed down with warm wine; take another dose after the evening meal.
