Drug Formulation

1 ox heart (first simmered in sesame oil, then strained; if ox heart is unavailable, substitute with a combination of turtle shell, lotus seed, and longan flesh), 1 liang Codonopsis, 1 liang Prepared Rehmannia, 1 liang Poria, 1 liang Astragalus, 1 liang Atractylodes, 1 liang Angelica sinensis, 1 liang Polygala,1 liang of jujube seeds, 1 liang of cypress seeds, 1 liang of amomum seeds, 1 liang of ophiopogon, 1 liang of trichosanthes seeds, 1 liang of pinellia, 5 qian of wine-processed peony root, 5 qian of schisandra berries, 5 qian of aged tangerine peel, 5 qian of licorice, 4 qian of coptis, 2 qian of cinnamon bark, and 8 qian of aged bile.

Simmer in sesame oil, thicken with yellow丹, add 7 qian of cinnabar, 5 qian each of raw dragon’s tooth, curcuma, and acorus, and stir until well blended.
