Atractylodes lancea 1.5 qian, Magnolia officinalis (ginger-fried) 1 qian, Citrus reticulata peel 1 qian, Glycyrrhiza uralensis 1 qian, Hordeum vulgare malt (fried) 1 qian, Crataegus pinnatifida 1 qian, Shenqu (fried) 1 qian, Fructus Aurantii 1 qian, Amomum villosum 8 qian, Agastache rugosa 8 qian, Cinnamomum cassia 8 qian, Aquilaria agallocha 3 fen, Poria cocos 1.5 qian.

For all cases of food stagnation, chest and abdominal distension and fullness, with a uniquely deep and large pulse at the Qi Kou position.

Instructions for Use

Take while warm. If undigested food is stagnant in the chest, take one bowl of this decoction, then use a finger to stimulate the throat to induce vomiting; repeat the process until all food is expelled. If the condition is in the middle or lower jiao, accompanied by distension, pain, and resistance to pressure, add 3–4 qian of raw rhubarb to induce purgation; if ineffective, add 2 qian of芒硝. After purgation, immediately administer 1–2 doses of spleen-tonifying herbs; if the condition persists, repeat the purgation.
