On the day before the Spring Equinox, Autumn Equinox, Summer Solstice, and Winter Solstice, find a sheltered spot away from the wind. Wash the navel thoroughly with warm water, place 5 li of musk inside the navel, and form a ring from steamed dough (the ring should be about 1 cun deep and 1 cun 6–7 fen in diameter). Warm it slightly and place it over the navel.Place one packet of medicine inside the ring, form a ball of Qi-region mugwort fluff (each ball weighing 1 fen, or 6–7 li) and place it on top of the powdered medicine. Light it with incense or a fire; burn as many balls as one’s age in years. Once burned, make a buckwheat flour cake the size of the ring (wheat flour may be used if buckwheat is unavailable) and cover the ring with it. Wait until the medicine has cooled, then gently remove it.Practice this consistently over a long period without interruption; the benefits are immeasurable.
