Drug Formulation

1 jin of fine stems (those from Wuyi Songluo are even better), 1 liang of Acorus tatarinowii, 1 liang of Notopterygium incisum, 1 liang of dried tangerine peel, 1 liang of Ligusticum chuanxiong, 1 liang of Asarum sieboldii, 1 liang of roasted barley malt,1 liang of Evodia fruit, 1 liang of raw licorice, 1 liang of dried ginger (unroasted), 5 qian of raw trichosanthes fruit, 4 liang of perilla leaves, 1 liang of cinnabar, and 1 liang of pure realgar (ground separately to a very fine powder).

Processing

Mix the above herbs evenly, dry them in the sun, spray them with high-quality fire wine at midday, wait until moistened, then mix them together. Next, mix in the cinnabar and realgar powders, spray with fire wine again, mix once more, and spray once more. Dry them in the sun at midday on the same day; if there is no sunlight, gently dry them over a fire. Store in a porcelain jar, ensuring no air escapes.

Instructions for Use

Take 3 qian per dose; steep in boiling water for a short while until the medicinal flavor is released; take 2–3 doses consecutively. If sweating has already occurred, stop taking it; if no sweating has occurred, it will induce sweating. It is also highly effective for inducing sweating in cases of snake bites. This formula is best prepared at noon on the 5th day of the 5th lunar month.
