Xiao Hong Sheng

Xiao Hong Sheng,For all types of sores, ulcers, carbuncles, and boils—especially when they are in the early stages and beginning to discharge pus.

Formulas Name : Xiao Hong Sheng

Chinese Name : 小红升

Drug Formulation

2 liang of pure mercury, 2 liang of purified alum, and 2 liang of purified calcined gypsum.

Source

From *Extraordinary Formulas Beyond Surgical Prescriptions*, Volume 1.

Processing

Grind the ingredients into a fine powder, place it in an iron-handled pot, cover it with a tall, deep porcelain bowl positioned steadily in the center, seal the opening with finely ground gypsum, and place it on a brazier. Refine it over a fire that starts gently and gradually intensifies for the duration of three sticks of incense. Leave it overnight to cool, then use a knife to scrape off the gypsum seal. Lift the bowl and use a small knife to scrape down the refined elixir—which may be green, yellow, or red—and store each color separately.store them in porcelain bottles for future use. Although the colors differ, their efficacy is the same. Those aged for one year have fully expelled their fiery energy; the longer they are aged, the better.

Benefits

For all types of sores, ulcers, carbuncles, and boils—especially when they are in the early stages and beginning to discharge pus.

Instructions for Use

When sores, ulcers, carbuncles, or boils are in their early stages and beginning to discharge pus, apply this powder to the affected area and cover it with an external ointment.

Note

If toxic sores appear on a man’s scrotum, a woman’s nipples, or the upper and lower corners of the eyes, do not use this ointment under any circumstances, as exposure to mercury vapor may cause unforeseeable harm; exercise extreme caution.
